A "franco"? You make it sound like a video game character.

What do you mean by 'french'? You ought to refer to them by the proper name 'french fries'. But still, why are you guys talking about those greasy blobs of fat here on a language site? WHat's it got to do with languages?

<< No, French has no legal status in Louisiana. I live in Louisiana and there is no official language, though both English and French (as well as Spanish, German, Hungarian, and others) are spoken in relatively large communities. >>

Yes it does have in Cajun country.

<< Looks like a franco-fanatic got a little upset here about Louisiana. Ha!

It's funny because David's post seemed like he was giving an honest opinion or observaton and immediately a franco jumps on him and labels him a troll. So typical. Who's really the troll here? >>

Looks like a hispanic fanatic got so upset everytime they get corrected for their false information about the Spanish language.

It's funny because David's(A hispanatic) post seemed like he was giving a very false opinion or observaton and immediately a hispanoc fantic jumps on somebody to straighten everything and labels him a fanatic. So typical. Who's really the troll here? The hispanics, imagine trying to make the viewers of this forum that Spanish is the 2nd most studied according to Instituto Cerveza.

More people people than those who speak French in Lousiana do speak Spanish in California and Spanish is the most studied foreign language in California, so it does not makes sense that French is not as studied in Lousiana because many people already speak it already. In reality it's not as many, only a few hundreds of people

BTW, hispanic fanatics here have gone so far that they even use the user name of other people who are supporter of a non-hispanic language then all of sudden you would see a message using the same user name attacking the language that he promotes/defends. Names that hispanic fanfatics used for treachery greg, Mallorqui, Parisien, Skippy, JLK, an lots more.

There are plenty of French students throughout Louisiana. New Orleans is not really part of Acadiana. There are about one million speakers in Southwestern Louisiana and Texas, most of whom are over 50. I can't say for certain but I'd say the percentage of students taking French is about equal to that of students taking Spanish.
