ROMA (Rome) The capital of ROMA (gypsies)

There was a humour in the media about ROMA (Rome) the capital of Italy becoming the Capital of ROMA (gypsies)

ROMA (Rome) the capital of ROMA (gypsies)

The humour was related to:
*******************************************************
Romania, Hungary, Slovakia used to be the countries with the largest number of gypsies. Because they were trapped there by the communist government (there was no freedom of movement in communism).

With the European Union enlargement, the gypsies were granted freedom of movement, and nearly 2.5 million gypsies from Eastern Europe migrated to Italy.

*******************************************************

I understand the LATIN-SANSCRIT connection, but why there is such a similarity between the world ROMA in gypsy language meaning MAN and the Latin Romanus and their Capital ROMA (Rome)

what Romanus means in Latin?

ROMA (Rome) come from etruscan. It has no meaning in Latin and isn't an "aryan" word.

ROMA in gypsy language is a PLURAL from ROM (man, husband)

ROMA is not Etruscan word - its a Latin word related to the sankrit MAN. and Romanus mean MAN of Honour.

ROMA come from etruscan Ruma. MAN in Germanic sense don't exist and never existed in Latin.

"[...]the origins of the Gypsies' name: In Asia, they call themselves Dom, in Armenia, Lom and in Europe Rrom, Rom or even Rhom. Some people maintain that the name Rrom is derived from Rama, the Indian God.

But, in the course of history and time, the Indian retroflexive consonant D was deformed in a L in Armenia and to Rr, R or Rh in Europe."

Also,
"Most Roma refer to themselves as rom or rrom, depending on the dialect. The word means "husband", romni/rromni meaning "wife", while the unmarried are named čhavo ("boy") (pronounced [cʰaʋo]) or čhej ("girl"). There are no historical proofs to clarify the etymology of these words.
...
There is no etymological connection between the name Roma (ethnicity) and the city of Rome, ancient Rome, Romania, the Romanian people or the Romanian language."

So the Latin cognate of 'rom' would be in fact 'dominus' (and 'domus').

News said that gypsies' ghettos are being burnt down by local population in Napoli. Well done.

Sí, es verdad. Los sin papeles han de volver a su tierra natal (o la de sus antepasados, no importa si nacieron aquí ya que no participan en el desarrollo del país). No permitiremos que se queden aquí en Italia abusando de nuestros medios de seguridad social. Además, no hablan bien Italiano así que no queremos que estén aquí. Este es un país que trata de preservar la diversidad lingüística pero solo la que forma parte de nuestro patrimonio cultural.

Buen Atardecer.
