¿Qué hace a un lenguaje ser grande?

Oasis for FES   Fri May 08, 2009 9:13 pm GMT

How much benefit can be obtained by learning a language and communicating in it. If lots of people around the world can benefitt significantly by learning a language, then you have a great language.

Does any Spanish-speaking country have nukes, yet?

Maybe Hugo Chavez can buy some from North Korea soon, along with ICBMs capable of hitting the US. Then, nobody could deny that Spanish was a great language. Also, Venezuela would command a heck of a lot more respect around the world.

How many North Koreans speak Spanish? How many Venezuelans speak Korean? Oh well, it's not as if that would be the language of negotiation. Hope it doesn't happen.

No it isn't if the widespread of the language is due to a colonial imposition. Spanish, English and French wouldn't have so many "speakers" if they hadn't slaughtered half world.
