How Much Could You Learn in Six Weeks?

Mitch,

I noticed that the thread you cited was very short. Schliemann (Er fand Troja/He "discovered Troy", I think) is certainly an interesting subject.

Repetition is a good language trick for easy acquisition. I listen to recordings repeatedly and the words stick just like music after a few times. So simple, I wonder why more people don't do it. They get bored, I guess.

Some people recommend writing texts out by hand. I do this too. Not sure if this works, but I also review what I write and I do think that reviewing works.

I don't think there is any one way to get a language down except to work steadily and have no fear of the language.

Joke intended, really. If there sounds funny, then that's yet another piece of evidence of my bluntness - the inability to use smiley's properly.

To me, that smiley is a face with a tongue sticking out. Whether this is acceptable in the culture of those speaking Cantonese, I don't know.
