Getting SuperMemo

The following versions of SuperMemo are available:

After you input your credit card information, you will be able to download SuperMemo immediately.

Special offer: You can get the Antimoon Starter Collection for free if you buy SuperMemo 2006 or 2004. The collection has 100 pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary items designed personally by Tom and Michal, showing many different ways of using SuperMemo to learn English.

How to get the Antimoon Starter Collection?

  1. Click the link to SuperMemo 2006, SuperMemo 2004, or the upgrade (above). You will see the product page.
  2. Do not go to any other pages, do not click on any links, etc.
  3. Click the Order button on the product page (at the bottom).
  4. On the next page, click Check Out and complete the ordering process at the Super Memory Store.
  5. When you get your copy of SuperMemo, send us an e-mail at startercollection@antimoon.com. The e-mail should contain the name of the person who ordered SuperMemo (the owner of the credit card).
  6. We will send you a link to download the Antimoon Starter Collection.

From this point on, the information in this manual applies to SuperMemo 2004 for Windows.

Installing SuperMemo 2004/2006 for Windows

  1. Go to the folder where you have downloaded the .exe file with SuperMemo. Run the file.
  2. The SuperMemo Install Wizard will appear. To install SuperMemo on your computer, follow the instructions on the screen. Remember that you have to be connected to the Internet, because the wizard needs to download some files during the installation.
  3. The Install Wizard will ask you to choose the folder to which you would like to install SuperMemo and the name under which SuperMemo will appear in your Start Menu. Usually, you can just click Next twice to accept the defaults suggested by the wizard.

  4. Now the wizard will display the "Choose Additional Tasks" screen. Here, you can choose Microsoft® Help if you would like to install the entire help system on your computer or Internet Help if you would prefer to connect to the SuperMemo website every time you want to read one of the help pages. If your computer has a permanent Internet connection, it's probably best to choose the second option, because it ensures you will always be using the most recent version of the help system.

    You can also check Add desktop icon to add a shortcut to SuperMemo to your desktop.

  5. Click Install. The wizard will start downloading files to your computer. When it's done, click Finish to close the Install Wizard and run SuperMemo 2004/2006. (Go to "Running SuperMemo for the first time")

Installing SuperMemo for Pocket PC

Setting up SuperMemo on your Pocket PC involves the following steps:

  1. Place your order on this page. You will be given a choice of downloading the full installer (850 KB) or just the version for your specific device. Choose the full installer.
  2. After placing your order, you will receive an e-mail with instructions for getting a registration code that will upgrade your SuperMemo to a full version.
  3. In the installer, you will have to choose the type of your Pocket PC. If your device uses the Pocket PC 2003 or Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system, choose Pocket PC 2003 & Windows Mobile 5.0. Otherwise, choose the option for the appropriate processor. For example, if your device runs the Pocket PC 2002 operating system (or earlier) and has a Samsung S3C processor, you should choose Pocket PC - ARM.
  4. Choose the folder on the Pocket PC where you want to install SuperMemo. The default is \Program Files. If you want to install SuperMemo on a storage card, you have to type in the path by hand (e.g. \SD Card), as there is no browser.
  5. Connect your Pocket PC to your PC and click Next.
  6. SuperMemo should now be installed. You can run it by tapping the SMemoCE icon in the Programs folder. This version is limited to 30 items. To unlock it, follow the instructions in the e-mail you received from the online store.

You can also download a trial version before you place your order. This version is fully functional, but you can only add a maximum of 30 items. To get the full version, you must place an order, download the installer, and receive a registration code (see above steps).

Note: The trial version does not install a shortcut to SuperMemo in your Programs folder, which means you will have to add the shortcut yourself or run the program from the File Explorer.

Uninstalling SuperMemo 2004/2006 for Windows

To uninstall SuperMemo from your computer:

  1. Open the Start Menu, locate and open the Control Panel, and choose Add or Remove Programs. Select SuperMemo on the list and click Remove.
  2. The Uninstall Wizard will appear. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. You will see a dialog box with the information that the wizard has not removed some of the files in your SuperMemo folder. This refers to SuperMemo collections. If you click Yes, the SuperMemo folder will appear and you will see the systems folder in it. This folder contains the two tutorial collections that were included with SuperMemo 2004/2006. If you created your own collections, they may also be in this folder, so be careful when removing it!
