"You don't need" vs. "You needn't"

Joe- do you really use "shall" when you speak? Or just in written communication? I'm from New England and rather polite, and I'm telling you honestly- I NEVER hear the word "shall" used- ever! It does sound polite and sophisticated, but nobody really uses it. I think it is still quite common in England and Ireland though. Lo is right- most Americans (nowadays) would use the conditional "should"
