Language Learning: Audio Tape Along With Book

I got an audio CD for the Japanese version Harry Potter and the Chamber Secrets along with the book. And am reading along as the voice on the CD speaks the words in the book.

Has this been effective for others?

Yes I find this an effective method, but then just listening and reading on their own are very good too. I have recently bought the audiobook of HP and the Chamber of Secrets in Italian, the book was supposed to come as well but became unavailable, though the audiobook is helping very much on its own.
