Is French on the decline

shiv   Fri Jan 09, 2009 8:39 pm GMT
Ah, to correct myself, I thought you posted "Mexico" not New Mexico. So disregard that part. I won't argue with you about NM but you still seem defensive about LA even though English is cleary the vast majority there.

My original point is that it doesn't mean much to argue about how many people speak French in LA because most people speak English there anyways.

I'm starting to think that the frogs, no matter if they belong to the Cajun, Quebecois or French subspecies, can't distinguish their fantasies from reality.
Why do they think that Cajun Creole in Louisiana is different and will not fade out in favor of English? There were Spanish speakers in New Mexico since the XVI century, stupid frog and since then Spanish has been permanently spoken in that territory. Spanish is not only a recent phenomenon despite there are many first generation migrants in USA. It's true that those Spanish speakers eventually will cease speaking Spanish in favor of English in US, but it's the same that happened to Cajun. It's normal because USA is predominantly a English speaking country, assume it. USA = English. Plain and simple.

I'm starting to think that the Hispanic dung beetles, no matter if they belong to the New Mexicans, Chicanos or Spanish subspecies, can't distinguish their fantasies from reality.

Why do they think that New Mexican Spanish is different and will not fade out in favor of English? There are French speakers in Lousiana since the XVI century, stupid hispanic dung beetle and since then French has been permanently spoken in that territory. French is not only a recent phenomenon despite there are many first generation migrants in USA. It's not true that those French speakers eventually will cease speaking Spanish in favor of English in US and it's the same that happened to New Mexican Hispanics.

Um...why are you copying me? I made is simple (and true) observation. Hello Moron! New Mexico is IN THE U.S. where ENGLISH is the dominate language...as in New Mexico. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS SIMPLE FACT? What you stated is outlandishly false of course, and has nothing to do with what I posted.

What? Do you seriously believe that Spanish is a dominate language in NM? You Spanishh supporters can get so defensive that you throw facts and logic out the window.

BTW you're not a "white" guy from Minnesota so I use that weak comeback in calling you a hispanic.
Hispanic from Louisiana.   Sat Jan 10, 2009 3:43 pm GMT
Check your facts frog, Louisiana was not colonized by the Frogs in the XVI century but much later, and not only that. They never were interested in that territory and sold Louisiana to the Spanish. Spanish in New Mexico is much older than Cajun Creole in Louisiana because the first Spanish settlers arrived to there in the XVI century. Spanish is the oldest European language in USA and is still spoken by many people but Cajun Creole in Louisiana has almost dissapeared, soon there will be more Hispanics there than Cajun speakers.

Shri, I corrected my mistake above, but my larger point still stands:

My original point is that it doesn't mean much to argue about how many people speak French in LA because most people speak English there anyways. You can't deny that French speakers are a small minority in LA. Just check the figures and statistics.

<< There are French speakers in Lousiana since the XVI century >>

See what happens when you copy other posts. You make incorrect statements like this. Maybe you should think of you own argument instead of copying and check you history.

Sorry buddy, but you're wrong again. So you did use a weak comeback.

Check your facts dung beetle, Louisiana was colonized by the French in the XVI century. The territory was never sold Spain but it was secretely ceded. Spanish is not the oldest European language in USA and is still spoken by many people but disappears within the 2nd generation. Cajun French in Louisiana is still spoken, soon the Hispanics there will become Cajuns because they tend to assimilate with them.

THE INFORMATION BELOW TELLS THAT SPANISH TENDS TO DISAPPEAR WITHIN A SHORT TIME JUST LIKE IN NEW MEXICO.

In 2006, an estimated 10 percent of the state's population are of Hispanic origin, although the 2000 census reported the figure was 8 percent.

Spanish which is spoken by 2.5% of the population.

BTW I'm a "white" guy from Texas.

<< See what happens when you copy other posts. You make incorrect statements like this. Maybe you should think of you own argument instead of copying and check you history. >>

You wouldn't have found out if the other Hispanic guy brought it up. OK Louisiana was colonized by the French in 17th century.

<< Cajun Creole in Louisiana has almost dissapeared, soon there will be more Hispanics there than Cajun speakers. >>

It's just a survey but in reality Cajuns tend to speak French in private because of stereotype.

On the other hand 30% of New Mexico claimed that they speak Spanish but in reality, those 30% are hispanic descent and almost all are monolingual in English even if they carry Spanish sounding names.

That's the truth, survey is unreliable because many of those who answer it are lying.

I wonder why Microsoft came out with commercial in Cajun French.

Why is it that they didn't released a New Mexican Spanish version? I know, because those 30% hispanics in New Mexico are now monolingual in English and speak it

<< Cajun French in Louisiana is still spoken >>

Yeah. Only 4.7% according to official statistics.

<< You wouldn't have found out if the other Hispanic guy brought it up. OK Louisiana was colonized by the French in 17th century. >>

Thank you for admitting your mistake. BTW I would've known that without the "other hispanic guy"....also, I'm not hispanic FYI.

<< It's just a survey but in reality Cajuns tend to speak French in private because of stereotype. >>

What the hell does that mean? Are you saying that more people speak French but are too embarassed to admit it? I don't get your point.

<< On the other hand 30% of New Mexico claimed that they speak Spanish but in reality, those 30% are hispanic descent and almost all are monolingual in English even if they carry Spanish sounding names.

That's the truth huh? Where is you source to back up your claim? Who are you to say that they are lying? Sounds like another irrational francophile attack.

Wow, you are truly devoid of logic. Microsoft didn't need to release a "New Mexican Spanish" version because they already market their products IN SPANISH. What the hell are you talking about Visitor?

<< Wow, you are truly devoid of logic. Microsoft didn't need to release a "New Mexican Spanish" version because they already market their products IN SPANISH. What the hell are you talking about Visitor? >>

I mean is there's no Spanish version of it.

There you go, with this statement, defending the Spanish language, it shows that you're really hispanic disguising as American hjust to have an excuse to attack the French language.

You're the one whose devoid of logic because the message was not meant for you, it was meant for Guest who have nothing to do but to attack the French language in every thread just like you. I don't believe that you're a white guy from Minnesota but a hispanic guy from Texas/California/Florida. Enough with your dissimulation. I'm not gullible like you and you can't make a fool out of me.

If you're fair enough, why can't you react on the comment of Guest who's your alter ego when he said that:

"Cajun Creole in Louisiana has almost dissapeared, soon there will be more Hispanics there than Cajun speakers."

When in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana it's said that:

"In 2006, an estimated 10 percent of the state's population are of Hispanic origin, although the 2000 census reported the figure was 8 percent.

Spanish which is spoken by 2.5% of the population."

Where's the logic behind your alter ego's comment? Non-sense isn't it just like yours.

BTW, WHY THE HELL DO YOU REACT WITH NASTY COMMENTS EVERYTIME SOMEBODY POST A MESSAGE THAT FRENCH IS ALIVE AND KICKING AND NOT DECLINING AS WHAT YOUR ALTER EGOS' CLAIM?

DOES THAT TORMENT LIKE YOUR BEING ROASTED IN A VERY HUT FURNACE? LOOK WHEN THIS MESSAGE IS CREATED, IT WAS INTENDED TO OFFSET THE MESSAGES FROM THE PREVIOUS THREAD THAT FRENCH IS ON DECLINE AND INITIALLY THERE WERE NO MESSAGES ATTACKING SPANISH OR EVEN ENGLISH UNTIL YOU AND YOUR HISPANIC ALTER EGOS STARTED TO POST MESSAGES JUST BECAUSE THEY CANNOT PROVE THAT SPANISH IS THE 2ND MOST STUDIED AND USED IN THE INTERNATIONAL GATHERINGS.

Shiv, as I said don't make a fool out of me because real Americans wouldn't react on messages if they're just pure discussions and especially if the English language and culture is not being attacked like what you're doing to the French language and culture.
