Language tution in the UK

I was wondering if there are any qualifications that are required / desirable for a private language tutor to take in the UK.

If anyone has experience of becoming a private tutor, your advice would be appreciated.

If you want to teach English as a Second Language there are a variety of qualifications you could try to get.

Generally speaking it is 'desirable' rather than 'required' to have qualifications, if you want to be a 'private' tutor.

Organisations have their own rules about what they will and will not accept.

I think you have to ask yourself, "What do you have to offer?"

If you speak another language, such as Polish, then you would be particular help to Polish people trying to learn English.
