I want to read a daily French newspaper that's available online to get some practice. I took a look at Le Monde, but it appears to be on the same level as the New York Times. Is there one that's a little easier to read, but has good quality?

yes but she/he says she/he doesn't like Le Monde and wants another newspaper.
My message is going to be slightly off-topic, as satirical newspapers aren't among the easiest to read. But they have a particular role in French journalism and deserve to be talked about.
Le Canard Enchaîné is a century-old weekly newspaper that's relatively independant, thanks to his lack of advertising revenue. It's one of the last French investigation newspapers. Due to it's history of reveling politician scandals, it's usually seen as one of the most reliable in France. However, it's been criticized for not being as harsh with some of the management's friends as it is with about everybody else.

Charlie Hebdo used to be seen as a symbol of freedom of speech, due to its deliberately gross, satirical cartoons and stories. Nowadays it's still seen that way but to a lesser extent. Lately the views of its Editor in Chief, Philippe Val, has become more and more reactionary IMO and with little regard for the facts.

There is a blog that publishes regular reviews of stories from Le Canard Enchaîné and Charlie Hebdo.

I forgot to add that Philippe Val is no longer Editor in Chief of Charlie Hebdo since May 2009.
Read "Le monde diplomatique", it is the best one and it is not LE Monde which is not so good since a few years.
