Hi, I'm a native Chinese. As the Chinese proverb goes, the journey of thousand miles is started by taking the first step (千里之行、始於足下), that's to say, deeds are better than empty words, everyone should manage to make his/her dreams come true with solid and practical action. At present, I don't think Japanese a mental burden for me to keep learning, in the meanwhile, I feel like picking either of language packages, one is the combination of German & French, the other is that of French & Italian, and none of these languages lacks related learning materials, but I've still hesitated about which package I had better pick considering all aspects, and attempted to give up the ideas of learning other languages on top of above-mentioned 2 packages. Would anybody kindly make a wise suggestion? "German + French"? or "French + Italian"?
"German + French" or "French + Italian"
Z.J.J, are you new here in this forum? Search for Xie, he is a Chinese learning German.
It is not recommended to learn two similar languages the same time, so I recommend to go for German + French. (It happens that German is my mother tongue, too, so I'm a bit biased.) If you go for German, don't use current learning material, but material from pre 1996, because the socalled ''Rechtschreibreform'' makes learning very hard.

because the socalled ''Rechtschreibreform'' makes learning very hard.
Danke schön, I'm afraid that, in China, almost all learning materials have already been published with reformed spelling system (Rechtschreibreform). Ich liebe Deutsch!

Which is closer to standard German in all respects? Austrian German or Swiss German?

哈哈!J.C.
