<<Surely, languages with a lot of voyels (italian, spanish...), in contrary to languages like czech, russian, serbo-croatian...>>

Why are vowels good for singing and consonants bad?

the shorter the better. that's my idea of a good language for singing. asian language are great i guess... english also cause it can have simple words on its lyrics. french and italian on the other hand are good just for romantic slow songs.

On the contrary, the longest the best for music. Short words are only good for rap, which I doubt can be considered music.

The best idiom for sing i duno.
But the worst by far is spanish. Unless a woman is singing.

Lo mejor idioma no lo sé.
Pero lo peor con mucho es el español.A menos que sea una mujer que canta.

Portuguese people are so mean, and they stink like a rotten chicken. Yuck
Catalan   Tue Mar 16, 2010 10:41 am GMT
I agree, they stink.

"Why are vowels good for singing and consonants bad? "

Consonants are not specially bad. It is just that the principle of singing is pushing higher the voice. Ethymologically , vowels have the same root as "voice". So, if you want to develop complex high voices systems, you will need vowels and not consonants.

Everyone's forgetting about English , does anyone else agree that any song sounds classier and more elaborate in English than in alll the others? Spanish is just cheap , and Julio Iglesias too gay
Franco   Fri Mar 19, 2010 12:57 am GMT
It's English that sounds cheap. No Opera singer sings in English. English is better suited for rap, hip-hop and other cheapish ,ghettoish genres.

Spain has the best Opera singers in the world. For example Montserrat Caballe, who is better than Callas and anybody else.
