Is it a known unknown? have we put our denial into the third dimensional blender?
The 4ht dimension
Things are shaping up nicely in this thread, progress is being made. Now let us proceed apace. What is your take on the fifth dimension?
Rn={[x1,...,xn]: x1,...,xn in R1}
where n is in N. Set n to whatever you want.

Einstein considered the 4th dimension not as an additional spatial dimension, but as a time dimension. String theorists have upwards of 10 dimensions in their theories. I don't know what they consider them to be, though.
I happen to come from the 4th dimension where distance makes no sense.
Why the number of dimensions must be an integer number? Why not 5.4 dimensions?
<<Why the number of dimensions must be an integer number? Why not 5.4 dimensions? >>
It depends on the type of dimension. Some can have non integer dimensions. For example, fractal dimensions.

Three dimensional space is needed to tie one dimensional space in a knot.
Five dimensional space is needed to tie two dimensional space in a knot.

Your logic? Your definition of a knot? A knot is strictly a three dimensional concept as far as I know (I don't know any knot theory, forgive me).

Where there is a string theory I think it only stands to reason there should be a knot theory to go along with it....
There is no 4th Dimension, only the 5th. When Marilyn McCoo went solo, the group disbanded.
