I mean as in without paying attention to its potential practicality in your life and stuff like that. If you did, what was the language, and what works written/composed/filmed/whatever in it made you want to learn it?
Have you learned a language solely for its cultural heritage
I'm currently learning Spanish just for fun. I like how there's a lot of Spanish influences in the Filipino culture. Plus I get to speak Spanish to my Mexican friends. I'd also like to read some of Jose Rizal's works in their original spanish.
I've always wanted to have a stab at Russian because of The Master and Margarita, however, that simply isn't enough motivation for me to learn it properly.
Spanish and its superior culture, from the "Cantar del mio Cid" up to modern Spanish cinema.
Penetra, up until you mentioned it I was completely unaware that spain even made films. I thought they gave up years ago due to the fact that Spain is just there to cater to drunken holiday makers.
