Which language is the most important for classic music?
whichever is the most ugly language will compliment the most ugly music
I am an ignorant son of a bitch who has no idea whatsoever about music. Now, back to blowing some penises! :)
I'd say Italian, tehn German. Germany may have produced more, but a lot of the music terminology was/is in Italian.
La musique occidentale (tonale, polyphonique) a été inventée par des Français, ses plus belles illustrations ont été créées par des Allemands, mais ce sont les Italiens qui lui ont donné son écriture et son vocabulaire.
I read that opera singer and other classical singers use a lot of IPA and thus are experts at reading IPA. Anybody who knows more about this?

In vocal music, the language of the lyric or libretto for that particular piece of music.
In non-vocal music, the question is trivial; all significant Italian musical terms can be learnt in half an hour.
