To leave my cheese in the wind?

What does it mean if someone says:

I did not achieve this position in life by having some snot-nosed punk leave my cheese out in the wind.

It's from Ferris Bueller's Day Off by the way. What does it mean? I'm assuming it's something negative...

To leave someone's cheese in the wind is to neglect to gratify their desires.
