How Turkish word kiz (girl) is pronounced, like a kiz or kaiz?? Thank you very much.
Turkish question
Many thanks! I would love to hear how it sounds, I mean, the word 'kiz', do you, please know a link? Does the vowel 'ɯ' sounds like in a word 'kadin' (woman) ?? Thank you very much in advance!
Yes, it's the same sound. Read all about and hear it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Close_back_unrounded_vowel
@man:
<<Does turkish '''ı'' and Russian ''ы'' is the same sound?>>
Almost, evidently: ''ы'' represents the close central (not back!) unrounded vowel, [ɨ].
@poiu:
<<so the turkish "i" is the same sound as in portuguese vIzinho, pEgar..>>
No, not Turkish "i", [i], but Turkish "ı", [ɯ], is the same as that vowel in those Portuguese words.

BTW it's "kız", not "kiz", which has another pronunciation!
Strictly speaking one should also write İstanbul with a dotted capital i to avoid confusion!

Thank you very much! I am learning Turkish language now. In my opinion Turkish sounds extremely awsome and it has fascinating gramar, because its aglutinative!
