Question about "er"?

"er" at "wonder" and "wondering" pronunce same? I think "r" together with "e" in " wonder", but "r" is with "ing" at " wondering"?
another example,
"generation" ------- " ge ner a tion" or " ge ne ra tion"
or like "interrupt", there are two "r"s, so it can pronunce " in ter rupt"?

for me the er is the same, and i say generation like: ge-ner-ray-shun

geh-ner-ra-tion

in-ter-rupt

so how about "opera", I should say it like " o-per-ra", so can I say this when er in the middle of word, I have put a "r" in it when I say it, is it right?

I just pronounce "opera" as two syllables, as if it were "oppra" (in my dialect, ["Qpr@]).

Yeah same for me--as if it were "oppra." That's ["Apr\@] as I say it.

Yeah, same in my dialect -- "oppra". I also tend to pronounce "wondering" with 2 syllables in my normal, everyday speaking voice -- "wondring".

I always pronounce "wondering" with three syllables, though.

For some of the aforementioned words, I have the following realizations:

"wondering" : ["wV~:n.dr\I~:n] / ["wV~:n.dr\I~:N]
"generation" : [%dZE~:.nR=:."e.SI~:n]
"interrupt" : ["I~.4~R=.%R@pt]
"opera" : ["a.pr\@]

Opera is a special case, and many people tend to ignore the E.

I sometimes give wondering 3 syllables and sometimes just 2.

so can I say this when er in the middle of word, in most case, I have put a "r" in it when I say it, is it right? r there any rules for this? or I have to remember every single word.

In most cases, if it's there, go ahead and say it.

how about "or" in "elaboration"? I should do the same thing?

Well, let me be more specific: e-LAB-ber-A-tion.

Because it is in an unstressed syllable, the -or becomes a schwa.
