want to know something about a city in france
the name of the city is Andrezieux Boutheon.anyone know about it?
how to pronunced it in english and in french?
I believe that in X-SAMPA, the French pronunciation would be [A~dRezj2 buteO~].
actually i know nothing about french.
i am just helping another student to know something about a place name. and what is X-SAMPA?is it the sysmem for french people to pronunce their language?
X-SAMPA is a phonetic alphabet that can be used to transcribe the sounds of all (or almost all) languages. I used it for the French pronunciation because it would be hard for me to describe the pronunciation without using phonetic symbols.
[A~dRezj2 buteO~] is how I would pronounce it too. It could be [A~dR2zj2 butO~] but I doubt it.
Here is a link in French.

anyone know something about the city itself?
cause i do not speak french,it is no use for me to go to french web sites.
It's not a well-known town outside of France, so you're probably not going to find a whole lot of information on it that isn't written in French. My suggestion, if you want in-depth information, is to go to the link provided above and use a language translator (like Babelfish) to give you a rough idea of what's being said.
Since I'm a nice guy, here's a translation of one of the pages: Andrézieux-Bouthéon is a large modern town of 9,522 inhabitants. It is located in the south of the Plaine du Forez, 15 km from St Etienne. The town has an aerodrome, a 12th century castle, an important industrial factory and a very productive community life (150 associations). It is a town that has mixed the charm of the medieval borough of Bouthéon with the futuristic architectures built within the last few years. Andrézieux-Bouthéon is resolutely turned towards the future. Situation: Plaine du Forez Canton: Saint-Galmier Arrondissement: Montbrison (15 km north of Saint-Etienne) Department: Loire Region: Rhone-Alps Situated on the edge of the Loire River. Population: 9,522 inhabitants Surface: 1628 hectares Number of school children: 4,016 Industrialized surface: 350 hectares (+ 360 hectares planned for construction) Number of companies: 306 Number in workforce: 7,500 (year 1997) Number of associations: 186, including 56 sports |
