Totally confused with SuperMemo! Please help!

Would you please tell me how I can underline an empty space while creating a gap-filling item in supermemo?
It is not a surprise! I am a biginner.
By the way, I am using SuperMemo98.

You use the _ key on your keyboard. It's located to the right of the 0 (zero) key. You have to hold Shift while pressing it.

A computer I'm now using has the _ key next to the Shift key.
