I read the Dubliners a while ago. I really liked it, but then you end up with stuff like Ulysses, which is tough, and Finnegan's Wake, which borders on incomprehensible.
He's a great writer if you can keep in mind that you're reading for the joy of it, that if you don't understand everything it's ok.

I've read Ulysses in high school, but haven't enjoyed it a bit. May be just me, 'cause I don't like fiction per se.
