The decline of French

Many spaniards who are unemployed, thanks to social aids live better than may americans with work. You don't like real data which prove the contrary to your point of view because you are a fanatic, you don't give any sources, only insults. I give you some measures of the index of poverty in these countries, and according to them, Spain is less poor than US. If you see the discussion table in Wikipedia, some dumbs say that U.N. made this indicator to make US look bad, hahahaha, what a bunch of integrists paranoids. Only they say that thing and countries such as Italy appear in a worse position. The higher median income of US isn't also a proof because: 1. there are more people below that median income than in Spain, and 2. Sweeden has 30 000€ of GDP per capita and despite US has 44 000, the standard of living in Sweeden is far better than the american one. Sorry, you lose again.

<<Many spaniards who are unemployed, thanks to social aids live better than may americans with work.>>

I highly doubt that, because many Spaniards who ARE employed don't live better than Americans who work.

<<You don't like real data which prove the contrary to your point of view because you are a fanatic, you don't give any sources, only insults. I give you some measures of the index of poverty in these countries, and according to them, Spain is less poor than US.>>

No, you provide data and expect no one to look closely and examine it. But I did, and I found that you're full of shit. More Spaniards live below the median income line and more are unemployed. That's all I need to see. The other two standards which are taken into account on that poll are "illiteracy" and "living to age 60," both of which have NOTHING to do with actual poverty. Nice try.

<<If you see the discussion table in Wikipedia, some dumbs say that U.N. made this indicator to make US look bad, hahahaha, what a bunch of integrists paranoids. Only they say that thing and countries such as Italy appear in a worse position.>>

I don't understand what you're saying here.

<<The higher median income of US isn't also a proof because: 1. there are more people below that median income than in Spain,>>

No, they're aren't. Look at the statistics again and tell me you still believe that nonsense. MORE PEOPLE ARE BELOW THE MEDIAN INCOME LINE IN SPAIN THAN IN THE UNITED STATES!

<<and 2. Sweeden has 30 000€ of GDP per capita and despite US has 44 000, the standard of living in Sweeden is far better than the american one.>>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Development_Index

No, their standard of living isn't "far better." They're ranked three places above us, and have a .003 higher standard. The difference is miniscule. But odds are much better for an American to live the dream and become much richer than any European could ever imagine.

<<Sorry, you lose again.>>

You live in Spain, you already lost. Look at the below link, look at the table on the far right:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_percentage_of_population_living_in_poverty

Much more of your population is living in poverty than ours!

So you idiots waste all of that money on social programs (which hold your economy back) and you're still MORE poor than us. Hahahahaha!

Socialism doesn't work, better try something new!

"More Spaniards live below the median income line and more are unemployed"

That is a lie. More US citizens live below median income than Spanish ones, according to UN index of poverty. You don't examine more closely the data, you lie!

"No, their standard of living isn't "far better." They're ranked three places above us, and have a .003 higher standard. The difference is miniscule"
Swede is in 4th position and US in 8th, there is a noticeable difference when you consider that US GDP per capita is 44000 $ and Sweden GDP per capita is 31000, US in theory shuld be upper in the table than Sweden.

"But odds are much better for an American to live the dream and become much richer than any European could ever imagine.
"
Ok, you have a model of society and I respect it. 1% of americans get richer than we europeans could ever dream, but 90% of europeans live better than 90% of americans.

"You live in Spain, you already lost. Look at the below link, look at the table on the far right:

Well, you at least begin providing sources, but I have one complain:
This chart is strange, because according to it, China and Thailand are less poor than Canada and Spain, even Morocco is less poor than Spain, when many moroccoans migrate to Spain. I think that you can't say that Spain is poorer or richer according to this chart, because it clasifies the countries acording their own relative poverty line, which varies from one country to another.

Now between you and me: 20% of illiterate people is a very big number. That bad you are in US?

"Allo! je suis bolivien de Descente espagnole de Lac Titicaca dans la Bolivie. Mais ma langue maternelle est Aymara. Il est aussi la langue maternelle de la majorité des péruviens, les peuple d'Equateur, et beaucoup des Chiliens."

Is this true even for people who grew up in Lima? I like the Peruvian accent in Spanish. I wonder if having Aymara as a first language colours the accent in Spanish...It makes me think about the way Don Francisco speaks as well.

The Language of Spain will be French to the delight of the Cataonians, Galicians, Basques, Asturians, Aragonese, and Leonese. Thanks to the Maghrebian and Francophones from Sub-Saharan Africa who keep on migrating there.

VIVE L'ESPAGNE FRANÇAISE!

VIVE LES MAGHREBIANS FRANCOPHONES.

K. T.: I'm not sure that I understand the sentiment. If you have people from the Maghreb migrating to Spain, won't Arabic or Berber arrive as well? Of course some people from the Maghreb speak French, but not everyone speaks French well-it's mixec in. JMO.

That 20% of illiterate americans is well represented in antimoon.
K. T.   Sat Jun 23, 2007 8:30 pm GMT
Is that a reference to my comment, A? If you think I can't read, why don't you write in your native language? What is it, btw? If you know any of the common languages used here, I should be able to read it.

Oh, was it my typo? The word is "mixed"-hope that helps.
Adolf   Sat Jun 23, 2007 8:34 pm GMT
No, I was not referring to you.
K. T.   Sat Jun 23, 2007 8:36 pm GMT
I disagree. Quite a few of the American posters here have some knowledge of another language; some have knowledge of three or more languages or have a good background in linguistics.

What's your language? Why don't you write in it?
Adolf   Sat Jun 23, 2007 8:39 pm GMT
Why do you want me to write in my language?
Guest   Sat Jun 23, 2007 8:41 pm GMT
<<That 20% of illiterate americans is well represented in antimoon.>>

And yet this poll has a different number:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_literacy_rate

It's not that I believe that you're amongst the 2.3% of Spaniards that are illiterate. You can read and write, that's for certain. You just can't reason very well and you lack READING COMPREHENSION. It's funny how quickly you turn to insults when you're argument has been blown to pieces.
Adolf   Sat Jun 23, 2007 8:45 pm GMT
Certainly, there are two different sources about this fact, but I think that source which says there is a 20% of illiterate rate in US is more accurate, it fits better the reality I see here.
Guest   Sat Jun 23, 2007 8:45 pm GMT
No, I was not referring to you-A.

Good, but it isn't very pleasant to read slams about Americans in this forum just so you can vent.
K. T.   Sat Jun 23, 2007 8:47 pm GMT
Why do you want me to write in my language?

So I can see if you are literate, to see if you write it well.
K. T.   Sat Jun 23, 2007 8:50 pm GMT
Some people can't read legal documents well and we have many immigrants who don't read. Are these groups part of your figure, A?
