cool - eternally cool

Why is cool such a timeless word? Why doesn't it go out of fashion? Will it ever?

I've been impressed by that too: "cool" has outlived a lot of slang that would now sound archaic.

Same here. I've wondered about it. My older brother was saying it in the 1980s and I've seen it over and over in movies from the 1960s.
