1. A vacation is a time (usually more than a week) when you relax instead of working or studying. People usually spend their vacation away from home. They might go to the sea or to the mountains.
   A vacation is also called a “holiday” (in British English).
   The director is not here. He’s gone on vacation.

   When I’m on vacation, I don’t take any phone calls from the office. I don’t like to think about work when I’m relaxing.

   Planning a vacation for the whole family can be difficult, because everybody wants to go to a different place.
