Modera i termini. Vuoi scendere al livello dei francesi e degli spagnoli?
Metterei una mano sul fuoco che Leonardo in qualche suo quaderno abbia disegnato anche cavoli e broccoli.

NO existe buen italiano, todas las formas de hablar italiano son feas, por eso no importa usar cinco vocales o siete. Yo prefiero hablar como los del norte de italia aunque no sea del todo correcto porque son los que tienen dinero, el resto son pobres.
Laura Pausini doesn;t have a nice accent, she sings with a heavy Romagnolo accent, which is close to Spanish, phonetically, only 5 vowels and no double consonants (doppie). It's not the way Italian should pronounced, stick to Tuscan/Roman artists: Gianna Nannini, Marco Masini, Giorgia, Syria, Jovanotti, Zero Assoluto, Eros...As for actors, Monica Bellucci has a nice standard/central accent, she's from Città di Castello (pronounced Castèllo and not Castéllo), Umbria, close to Tuscany.
''In Italia del nord''
Al Nord pronunciano tutto scorretto.
Lingua italiana = lingua toscana in bocca romana.
La pronuncia ''standard'' è quella di Centr'Italia.
L'accento milanese è troppo chiuso e nasale, gli accenti torinese e veneto sono molto aperti...Sono accenti con cadenze troppo dialettali. Da evitare.

''a truly Italian standard doesn't exist''
This is not true, all dictionaries indicate the standard pronunciation, the standard pronunciation is preferred in
1. music industry
2. Tv industry, especially newscasts, RAItv productions and dubbing of foreign programs (you will never hear bene and Daniela with closed stressed vowels in a movie dubbed into Italian, since standard pronunciation is used there: bène, Danièla)
3. theatre
4. voice professionals (on national TV and radio)
90% of people from Central Italy speak a language close to standard, because the local dialect is from the same system standard is.
In North they speak Galoitalic languages/dialects, so their pronunciation of vowels and double consonants, as well as intonation, is based on their local Galoitalic languages, and not the Tuscan language. The same is in south (with the difference it's not Galoitalic languages, but another romance languages).
Also note the difference between the language and dialect:
in Tuscany and Rome, people switch from dialect to impeccable standard accent in normal and formal situations. In North and South, people never learn how to speak with the standard pronuncation, they are incapable of doing so, they always sound dialectal and nonstandard, with wrong vowels used, and not respecting the double consonants or raddoppiamento sintattico.
A little map showing where the standard accents are spoken (white):

If you want to learn standard Italian, go to Rome, Florence or Perugia,
not Turin, Milan, Genoa, Venice or Naples.

la mayoria de los pobres (verdaderos) viven en Africa, Asia y America del sur, desafortunadamente. Esos pobres desearian ser tan pobres como los italianos del sur.
En el norte todos usan 7 vocales al hablar italiano, pero su uso esta incorrecto, es decir no corresponde al italiano estandard. Sòlo los sardos usan cinco vocales.

All italians pronounce written double consonants, northern Italians too! Besides Laura Pausini uses 7 vowels ,like most italians, but their usage is incorrect according to Italian standard. The only difference is that they don't use raddoppiamento sintattico.

No me gusta el italiano, es el idioma de los mafiosos, y tiene solo cinco vocales, lo que significa que es un idioma repugnante.
Oddio is true, all the Italians pronounce double consonants (only people with very poor education derived from being dialect native speakers may still not do it).
The Milanese accent is quite strong to a Central Italian ear, and it is definitely nonstandard.
It is also true that actors and singers try to imitate the Central Italian pronunciation.
And standard Italian definitely exists. Standard pronunciation rules do exist, they are based on Central Italian, and every dictionary has them. Nonstandard pronounciations are not wrong, but surely they are not... standard either.
