Yeah, I think your average bullet just makes a big hole. Well, actually a small hole where it enters, and a bigger one where it exits.
What accent do you really hate? and which one you love?

So you have experience in shooting people. Nice to know. I've never had shoot anyone myself.
"Irish Guy and Carter, when was the last time you were in America? Getting your head blown clean off? That's a bold statement. Do you have witnesses (perhaps your friends and co-workers) to back that up as well?"
I was in New York for three weeks last year. I was staying with a few people from my home town. To be honest the only trouble we met came from a few big mouthed English people in an Irish pub. I was however warned to stay alert when walking around in case of getting mugged but that’s common to any city. Also there was a story on Irish News last year in which an Irish lad from Dublin was shot in an apparent initiation ceremony or whatever there called. I'll have to admit that the my view of America is slightly stereotypical but gun related deaths are very common in the U.S. Look up the stats yourself

I've also been to america several times, business trips, love america and its people.Never been shot nor seen anyone been shot(thankfully)but I have relatives on long Island who tell me things, sad stories.I am stereotypical as well, but I don't make judgements easily, the US department released figures. Its not that I'm trying to paint america as a scary place, its just that Ireland is so different,it's a lot harder to obtain a weapon here, but not impossible.
Anyway its my fault really for going off topic earlier,so I apologise for that.

Now you know why I have to use a username -- wanted in fourteen states -- the witness protection plan ain't all it's cracked up to be ...
No, silly, I've never shot anybody myself. (I do have a list, though....) But I've seen gunshot wounds before -- mostly in animals, but we did a have a human skull in our anthropology department that had suffered from "acute lead poisoning", as they call it..... I think it would take a pretty big caliber to actually take a whole head off, or specialty ammo like hollow-points.

I'm in no danger of being mugged or worse in America, as I have no intention of ever going there again, but I've been to Ireland previously, last time about three years ago, and wanted to go again.
Any tips on places (streets, districts, towns) best avoided these days?

I don't see the 300 million American population suddenly falling into a void because of a few gunshots.

Oddly, the vast majority of us never get shot. Hmmm! Imagine that! But from a few people's comments, they seem to be picturing the St. Valentine's Day Massacre on every street corner.
Step away from the television, guys....

I personally would suggest that you leave the cities and big towns alone and head towards the countryside. Much more pleasant but maybe a bit boring after a while. Try it. Limerick is getting a bad reputation at the moment with a few minor gang wars that aren't too serious. Dublin is the similar. On Saturday night, a group in a moving car fired over 20 shots from a sub machine gun at two other men, while speeding and weaving along the M50 motorway. The car was hit at least 15 times; one man was hit in the shoulder and upper body, the other in the elbow. It was supposedly gang related so its unlikely any innocent people would be targeted so come on over.

Carter stop painting Dublin as a scary place. Its a great city with a great nightlife,I'd say probably the best in europe. There are scumbags all over Ireland and you'd get robbed in small country towns as well so thats nothing new.Just because you got stalked when you were younger doesnt mean everyone has to watch their step. The only time people should be really cautious is at night, but during the day its perfectly safe. The only bad thing I can think of in Dublin are the prices.A night out in dublin costs a fortune,5-6 euro per pint,20 euro admission to most clubs, you'd need to bring at least 100 euro. Why don't you post where you're from so we can bash your hometown,I'm sure I've probably been there and I bet its boring as hell, why else would you travel to dublin for a day out?
LONDONERS ACCENT IS ACE GEODIE, MACKKEM, AND TESSISE ACCENTS ARE THE WORST!!!HATE NORTH EAST OF ENGLAND!!!
I don't know where Carter is from but I'm originally from Kavanagh Country. That’s Inniskeen by the way. A peaceful wee village on the border with South Armagh. No violence here! I'm in Galway at the moment so feel free to insult Galway as much as you like.
Jeesh....Women! I'm from kildare originally but I live in Dublin now,so by all means slag kildare if it makes you feel better Julie oh and I wasnt painting dublin as a scary place its scary enough sometimes as it is.Either way Julie I was cautioning people about the problems that do exist in dublin regarding theft and you are basically cautioning people about the prices on booze and admissions which also makes Dublin look bad. :-)
Ahhh the 'The Stoney Grey Soil of Monaghan' brings back a lot school memories.I've been to the village quite a number of times, very nice place and people.

We produced Kavanagh and you lot give the world Arthur Guinness. Shame on you!!
I am an Aussie and I love the Aussie accent. Our accent differs depending which state you come from. Queenslanders are very broad with a slow drawl, New South Wales have a nasally twang. South Australians sound like a mix between an English aristocrat and a South African and us Victorians have a slight English affliction, but that also depends on what part of Victoria (or Melbourne) you are from. I have had Americans mistaken me for and Englishperson, when in actual fact, I am a 7th generation Aussie.
The accent, I love the most is male russian (oh, my god, it doesnt get any better than that!)
The accent I cannot stand the most is any person from any other country than Australia, trying to copy ours - for God's sake - don't even bloody try.
Cheers
