That's all right, Garry; we like our map tidily in one place. Poor orphaned Alaska is bad enough, and it's a long enough flight to Hawaii, already!
What accent do you really hate? and which one you love?
"Jim C, acquire a bit of knowledge and wisdom"
I don't understand, how have I offended you?
Put me straight if I've said something wrong.

I love a Jamaican accent. It would be so delightful to come home to a spouse with one of those - very relaxing!
Jim, Australia has hardly been a drain on Britain, or in the Queen's (or King's) hair, having become independent 105 years ago while remaining within the Empire/Commonwealth and being the first to Britain's aid in both World Wars and having supported Britain in various other conflicts both before (Crimea, Boer War) and since (Malaya, Korea, Gulf etc). Rather the reverse.
So just what did you mean by "As for Australia. The Queen wants you pretty much out of her hair (that speech at the Commenwealth Games)"?

I was joking, Its a long way for an old lady to travel to see her subjects!
Australia is great, and I love the fact that you Ozzies have stuck by us Brits through thick and thin. I was just commenting on the fact that at the commonwealth games the Queen pretty much said that she didn't mind if you lot became a Republic.
I should be more carefull how a phrase things!! my little jokes always upset people!

im irish and like the irish scots welsh accents the best comon the celts we rule the world woman love us my
You know "celtic" is a load of bollocks, its just the word the Greeks used to describe the tribes of Europe, in the same way as people called the tribes of America "Indians". You lot arn't any different to the rest of Europe, in art or anything else. I could show you a Viking piece of work, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between that and an Irish one.
I'm not trying to be a bastard, I'm just a bit drunk.

A collector of fine arts, are we now? You do come across as a right bastard when you're drunk. I suggest keeping the computer at a safe distance in future.

Im sorry. Obviously there are differences in the art, but at the same time they are quite similar, and our cultures are very similar, but the differences should at the same time be celebrated. I dunno, just the whole "celtic" thing seems to go against my pro-European mind set, by separating other cultures out, from what is really a shared history from pagen times.
This explains what I mean, what i wrote there isn't very elliquent (excuse the spelling mistakes)

Yeah your right, I should avoid discussions when Im drunk, plus I didn't mean what I said as some sort of attack, I just wanted to point out what I've heard.

It's human nature to want to find a group to identify with, Jim C, whether it's a national group, an ethnic group, a socioeconomic group, a religious affiliation, or whatever. Identifying with the EU is functionally no different than identifying with "Celtic" or "Slavic" or any other kind of -ic, -an, -ish, or -ese.
Back to accents. I like the north-eastern English accents, plus that of eastern Scots. Most Irish, Welsh, and Australian accents are also euphonic.
I'm also quite impressed by New Zealanders' and South Africans' consonants, although their attempts at vowels cause concern.

Indo-European
we are all different,be it art, music or language,we may share some similarities in our works but ultimately each is unique and different.
Incidently why is that every british person I've ever spoken to uses the phrase "you lot" or "your lot" when talking about the Irish. You could have said "the Irish" is sounds so much better :-).

Some English people seem to be living in their imperial past and have yet to forgive Ireland from breaking the union. I had hoped Jim wasn't like that but there are a lot that are. An example of this would be Adam. He is fixated on the "superiority" of his own country. Most English people are fine and it is the few that are like Adam that get the limelight for some reason.
