''A fry'' to mean ''a bag of fries''.

Would you ever say ''a fry'', to mean ''a bag of fries''? I often say that when I'm ordering french fries at a fast food place.

Example sentence:

I would like a large fry (bag of fries).

I think I'd say a "large fries."

I might say "a large fry" or a "large fries", but I wouldn't say "a fry" or "a fries" in isolation to mean a bag of fries.

I haven't caught the 'Fry bug' I would perfer to say 'Large Chips'.

Oh, so you would only say it if it were followed by an adjective like ''medium'' or ''large''? Yeah, I'd more likely specify the size of the bag of fries if were ordering it.

I would say a "large spud" if I was on the bottle.

If I asked for "a fry" or "a large fry" the McDonald's drones would tell me the minimum order is a small serve of fries.
