How to improve your word power hassle-free? It is simple, all you need to do is to read something about a particular field or subject in which you have a great interest. If you have a penchant for sports then read news articles regarding sports. If you have a penchant for reading political news then read about it but do it daily. As usual, initially, it will take some efforts on your part to look up new words but once you look them up they will be repeated again. Fixed vocabulary always exists in every subject so it is going to be repeated over and over again. All you have to do is to keep reading almost daily ....In a nutshell, what I am saying is that you should do "narrow reading".

<<<<Hi!I'm new to this forum.I want to learn english and speak fluently, but i think my inhibitions come on my way ,so I think one has put their inhibitions aside if really wants to learn something. And I agree a lot of practise is required.More u talk or more u read or more u hear, all that is going to help in one way or other. Can anyone help me for what are the other ways to make my word power as well as grammar better and in a easy way.Because I hate reading grammar books,I find it verrrrrrrrrrry BORING!Since I don't go anywhere so I am not able to communicate with people which I think is most important part of speaking fluently. >>>>
If you want to get better in your English, then you should be open to criticism. It is a difficult balance to get right. Most people hate being citicised. Also, if people are worried about being criticised, they are likely to be inhibited in what they say or write.
Unfortunately, when people do criticise, they are do not always do it in a nice way.
When I looked at the Post above, there was one thing that particularly annoyed me. <<<More u talk or more u read or more u hear, all that is going to help in one way or other.>>>
I am sure that the person who wrote the sentence, knows that 'u' is spelt 'you'. Possibly not!
Young people when they are texting will sometimes use these abbreviations. I think that when you are learning English, you should try to do things properly.
When people correct other people, they are often correcting them over things that are not terribly important. In a way, the most important thing is not to get into an argument about it, but to concentrate on the 'communication', the message.

Yes!You are right.I think no one in fact likes being criticised. That holds us back from speaking. But,could you tell what are the ways to improve fluency and speak correctly.I really want to speak english fluently. As far as Grammar is concerned,It goes above my head,I'm hardly able to co-relate it while I'm speaking.

hi kyle, i got the Fluentzy books and let me tell you that you can not go wrong if you buy them. Two years ago when i bought them the full course consisted only of three lots of 7 self-study books each one. You do not need to get all of the books which now i think they are about 6 books more.
Let me tell you that if you really want to get some fluency in your english skills this is the best way to go. Try to concentrate all your efforts practicing at least 2 to 3 hrs everyday with these books and in a short time you will get surprised yourself.

I heard from my friend from time to time complaining about the difficulty of speaking english. But they did quite well in writing essay. And my problem is, I can speak well but it comes to writing, I'm bad. I never even score half of the total.
I think I prefer speaking bcuz I speak what I had in mind, in a casual way. And I don't think I can write like, "What do you think?", "Just give me sec," "And you know what?"... You know what I mean?
