Brazil is leading shit in south america!

Franco, you're really dumb and stupid - do some research and compare per capita revenue from brasil to per capita revenue from Portugal. That should answer help you get a clue! Besides, currently Portugal is doing way better than several other western European countries such as Spain

Portugal backward? I was recently in Lisbon and that city is rocking! I visited other cities like Viana do Castelo, Braga, Aveiro where you see and feel the European progress!

I really believe that you've never left your village in Brazil...

You should talk based on FACTS and not based on EMOTIONS

Actually Spain is in deep trouble now! The country basically paralyzed in terms of growth due to the global crises...

Many other European countries, including Portugal, are finding their way to better days despite the world economical mess.

Franco,

Any EU/Asia/North Amer. country is RICH compared to brazil

Even Mexico is ahead of poor Brazil!

I dont understand why brazilians think they're rich. Open your eyes and look around!!!! overall what do you see besides misery?

First off, if Brazil was "shit", it's due to the Portuguese heritage who didn't care their colony . Thanks to God Brazil received many inmigrants from Germany, Italy and Spain who made it a nice country, much better than Portugal. There are many more Portugueses living in Brazil than vice-versa.

Portugal is not doing anything better than anybody in Europe and the city of Lisbon looks really ugly. It has not the feel of an European rich capital at all. It resembles Eastern European cities more. I've not seen so many ruinnig buildings in any city in Spain, maybe in Cadiz, but it's the poorest city of the country and not a capital.

I would love to have a village in Brazil, but I haven't :-(

Resources do not mean a thing! Portugal does not need many resources to continue its nice growth and teach brasil lessons in terms of future. The richest countries in the world have hardly any resources. That's the case of Japan.

If brazil was able to do anything with its resources, it would have already done it long ago. People in brazil continue to steal and kill in order to survive. Why is there do much pride about it?

All countries are facing crisis, not only Spain. Portugal began suffering recession before Spain, that's why it is also begining to recover before Spain as well. Each country has slightly different economic cycle. Portugal is as dependant on global economy as Spain is, don't believe an spectacular recovery of economy before Spain's economy begins to grow too. Anyways Portugal was in its particular crisis even before the global crisis, whereas Spain's GDP was skyrocketing.Portugal is highly dependant on Spanish economy, because Spain is the main economic partner, so if Spain does not recover Portugal will not go any further. You are the fucking portushit that is opening threads against Spain. You are shameless. You dare to accuse the Brazilians of being lazy when Portugal is a shit of enormous dimensions, the absolute trash in Europe. How do you dare, piece of Portuguese shit?.
CarmelKid   Sun Sep 13, 2009 2:14 am GMT
Franco,

Villages in brazil are very cheap! You dont have a village in brazil and will never have one, simply because you're not smart at all and that stops you from making money.

It's because of lazy ignorants like you that brazil is still behind and heavily corrupt. The Portuguese were in Brazil 500 years ago! Get a life! Stop putting the blame for brazil's precarious situation on others!

Why would the Portuguese back in 1500 invest in brazilians? Brazilians did not even know how to write their names....

Like any city in Europe, Lisbon has not so good areas. But as an architect that I am, I can tell you that Lisbon is a wonderful city!

Now look at cities in Brazil....there is no words to describe the poverty/decadence of those cities...

Portugal's economy before crisis:

GDP growth in 2006, at 1.3%, was the lowest not just in the European Union but in all of Europe. In the 2000s, the Czech Republic, Greece, Malta, Slovakia and Slovenia have all overtaken Portugal in terms of GDP per head. And Portuguese GDP per head has fallen from just over 80% of the EU 25 average in 1999 to just over 70% in 2007. This poor performance of the Portuguese economy was explored in April 2007 by The Economist which described Portugal as "a new sick man of Europe".[6] From 2002 to 2007, the unemployment rate increased 65% (270,500 unemployed citizens in 2002, 448,600 unemployed citizens in 2007).[7]

Franco,

For the record, I am not Portuguese, I am a well traveled American of Italian background who speaks 3 different languages!

And yes, you are wrong about portugal being the european trash, so much so, that there are many new european countries that just joined the union and whose economies are very fragil.

Any european country benefits from the economies of their counter-parts. That's the advantage of being part of the European Union.

You seem to know very little about Portugal and other European countries. You are very frustrated about the countless limitations of Brazil and you are projecting those frustrations onto others.

THE SAD REALITY OF BRAZIL. Need more words?

* 22.6% or 34.9 million Brazilians live below the poverty line.

* Over half live in urban areas.

* 52% do not have canalized water.

* 68% have no garbage collection.

* 78% do not have proper sewage connections or septic tanks.

* 25% do not have electricity.

* 74% live in households where the head of the household has less than four years of schooling.

To surfingCA, you are a Portuguese, but you don't admit that because you are ashamed of being Portuguese.
Franco   Sun Sep 13, 2009 2:33 am GMT
But I don't blame you. if I were Portuguese I would hide it and I would say I'm Chinese instead if it was necessary.
SurfingCA   Sun Sep 13, 2009 2:34 am GMT
Franco,

you sound like an overly emotional latino who lacks sobriety to understand the scope of the matter. Before the crises, portugal was not doing any worse than those countries you've mentioned.

Plus, what really matters are the current economical indicators and the present situation, not a bunch of meaningless figures from the past. And Portugal has shown and excellent recovery and is taking the right direction in terms of investments.

The other thing is - dont feel sorry for Portugal or for any other EU country because they have the European Union to help them out and support them, therefore the situation in those countries can never be comparable to the one in any Latin America county.

Focus on your own country, and try to make some more money so you can buy a villa in Brazil one day before you die.

Besides, I do not speak or like spanish.
