Hi, myself sanjay, I read you query on net, first of all I would like to tell you that sometimes we see very amazed things, at the same time two persons are facing same kind of problems when they try to speak fluent English, what I am telling, you would have been thinking, actually I am also working as stenographer in a CA firm in Delhi here my prime duty is, taking dictation and to type the same except this I also pick all incoming calls, check e-mail, send e-mails, , I am also facing the same problem when I try to speak fluent English, the same problem that you are facing at present that is why I wrote that sometimes we see very amazed things, at the same time two persons are facing same kind of problems when they try to speak fluent English. Oblivious all that, you are in need of a good friend, who can speak good English because, in this way you can chat with him a lot, you can ask him any of the question, obviously he will reply. First ask him some questions like this “do you play cricket for keeping yourself fit, he will reply u like this Yes I play cricket for keeping myself fit, then you will reply him your should not play cricket for keeping yourself fit, he will reply you why should I not play cricket for keeping myself fit, then you will reply you should not play cricket for keeping yourself fit because you are a student and if you play cricket you could fail also that is why you should not play, then again you will ask him, “do you play cricket for keeping yourself fit?, he will reply u like this I don’t play cricket for keeping myself fit(this time negative), then you will reply him you should play cricket for keeping yourself fit, he will reply you why should I play cricket for keeping myself fit, then you will reply you should play cricket for keeping yourself fit because you are a good cricket player and if you play cricket you could win the trophy also that is why you should play. I think in this way you can improve you spoken skill because applying this method you can use all like should, could, may, must, will do, does, did, have been, would have been, will have been, etc…. After 4-5 days, if you practice like this, you will find yourself definitely some changes. And also you can speak on phone because when we talk to a person over phone, actually that time we can think some appropriate words.

Somebody suggested me this method after a month ago and till then I am applying this method in my regular life and I think now that my English spoken skill is getting improve. You can have my e-mail ID on page No. 18th • what are the practical steps to speak english fluently (pages: 1 2 3 4 5 ... 15 16 17 18 19) 274

Thanking you.

Best regards,
Sanjay

First of all, you guys should realize that using "sir" or "madame" in an internet forum looks sort of stupid, and immediately identifies you as being either a joker, or a someone with very poor English. Also, why do you forget the question mark? Does your language not have one? I would think that that would not be too difficult. Also, in English, we capitalize "I" always no matter where it appears in the sentence. This isn't YIM or something. We use slightly more formal English in general in a forum, if we don't want to look too sloppy or childish (but not formal enough to warrant the ridiculous faux titles of "sir" and "madame"). Thirdly I have no idea what "general word" means? Would you mind clarifying?

If you want a quick and easy way to appear a little more proficient at English, use correct capitalization and puctuation on an internet forum. Remember, this is not Instant Messenger. You can spell check, grammar check, etc. your messages before you post them. Your English will be easier to understand for everyone, and you will appear smarter and more proficient in English. Don't make the mistake of only learning Instant Messenger style lingo and style, because it's only appropriate for Instant Messenger.

Hi-

I am not trying to learn English as I was born in America and now live in Israel (please save the politics for another forum) and I am trying to learn Hebrew. I figured that whatever people are doing to learn English should work for Hebrew. I live with Hebrew speakers and I study with them for a few hours a day, but I believe that at some point I need to be completely immersed in order to advance further. I am already at a high level, but I want to be fluent. I am I right in thinking that I should be 100% with Hebrew speakers?
