Portugal has richness due to Brazilian gold they had been stealing for centuries. I've never seen a nation lamer than Portuguese.

Portugal didn't steal gold from Brasil since Brasil was part of Portugal. Either way many countries had empires and even more countries would rob treasures from countries after defeating them (Napoleonic Wars anyone?). Let's not forget the Vatican which would receive a shit load of money from the Catholic nations which was then used to build the wonderful churches we see in Italy today. It's part of our past. Stop bitching about it and move on.

cuntana Yes, the r is pronounced in European Portuguese but ommitted in most Brazilian accents. There's a lettle tendency of skipping some final r's in verbs in European Portugueser too but it's not standard

In a Portuguese channel, I heard Bravo Nico pronounce "reforma" closer to "chforma" and his speech sounds Slavonic to my ears...

Hehehe, well, that is rrforma, where rr stands for a guttural r, which is close to a "ch" sound :) and well, you're not alone when you think that Portuguese sounds slavonic, a lot of people do. I think it sounds just great :)

That's the Portuguese mainly Lisbon. Up North for example, nobody uses the guttural r. It's just a stupid thing high-class people started to do in Lisbon because they were influenced by the French in the 18th century. I never understood why the Portuguese were influenced by them during that time. Might have been because they ended the Iberian Union and wanted to distance themselves from Spain. If it wasn't for that, EU Portugal would be much closer to the Portuguese spoken in Brazil and Africa.
