I want to say, that Portuguese does sound like Russian.
If you do not listen, you may be confused. I am from Russia.

I am refering to the Cape-Verdian accent of Portuguese, not to Cape-Verdian Creole.

Therefore, I speak in ''brasileiro'' (as they call it there) to them, and they respond to me in Crioulo RS, it's easier to understand than CV Portuguese...

As I said before, Cape Verde Creole is a distinct language, with its own vocabulary, verbs and syntax.

Brazilian PT is not a distinctive language. It's just plain Portuguese with different accent and some different words.

You've never heard creole from Cape-Verde in your life. Get to know the language before posting wrong comments here, ok?

I live in Rotterdam and it's the capital of Cape Verdeans in Europe

I can understand 100% of what Suzana sings:

No way Portuguese sounds like Russian. I have been raised in region with many native Russian speakers, many of my dear childhood friends are of Russian/Ukrainian ethnicity, and I understand Russian quite well (I cannot speak it though). There is nothing in Portuguese that reminds me of Russian.

Obviously it only sounds Russian to those who don't know either of the languages. Doh!

"Obviously it only sounds Russian to those who don't know either of the languages. Doh! "

I was talking solely about the sound of the languages, the pronunciation, not the words. I can easily spot Slavic languages in general, and I also listen sometimes Portuguese music. I completely fail to see the similarity between them.

let's compare the languages in two similar R&B songs:

let me know what you've found in common between the two

The second music example is a Cabo Verdean song, which many who speak Portuguese is one of the softest of accents. Someone needs to find a video in the standard Lisbon accent to compare for a Slavic sound. Even Brazilians think that the Cabo Verdean accent is as soft or softer than most Brazilian accents.

@JGreco,
Alright, let's try news:

In Russian it seems that every other vowel is an 'i', I don't hear that in Portuguese.
